Renewable Energy Resources

Renewable Energy Resources

Renewable energy resources are those resources which we have in abundance and we are not afraid of them running out. That is to say that we know that they shall be reloaded even if we use a massive amount for our already enormous energy needs. Renewable energy resources are quite beneficial for our environment. In other words we are using the materials obtained from the environment to fulfill our needs. These don’t cause harm to our environment similarly making a less harmful option for fulfill our energy crisis. These renewable energy resources are all easily accessible. For instance; Solar, Wind, Tidal, Biomass and Geothermal Energy just to name a few. Some of these are discussed in detail down below.

Solar Energy

Certainly the sun is a very important part of the Solar system, it is also essential to maintain life on Earth. We all schedule our events according to the sun. In the olden age , the usage of this energy led to discovering the sundial. This sundial could tell the time when the light of the sun was incident on it. The angle it was making would tell the people what time it was. Since then technology has progressed by leaps and bounds we have realized that the energy from the sun can be utilized in many ways. For instance we have developed cars which operate on using solar panels.
The energy we obtain on a daily from the Sun is about 1.4kWm-2. The sunlight and heat rays we receive on Earth is not the full capacity because of reflection, scattering and absorption by dust particles and water vapors. However this doesn’t mean that our energy requirements are not met . That is to say that we can still power up our calculators, home appliances and even homes using solar energy ,in the form of solar cells and solar panels.

Biomass Renewable Energy Resources

Similarly another highly effective source of renewable energy is biomass. What is biomass, one might ask. Biomass basically consists of all organic materials which are present in this earth. Therefore it includes all the crop wastage, trees, animal waste and even sewage. Certainly these are materials which we find everywhere in our environment. Therefore to make use of them would be highly beneficial for us and this would be a highly effective way of getting rid of waste. Moreover we will be fulfilling our energy requirements while doing so. Now however the question arises how we can make use of this waste. Firstly we must convert this waste into fuel and to achieve that we have two ways:
• Direct Combustion
This includes heating the waste without the presence of oxygen.
• Fermentation
This method entails decomposition using bacteria and then converting it into fuel which will be useful.
By using either of these we can obtain biofuel, in the same vein as gasoline but an environmentally safer option.

Energy from Geothermal

The earth is a magnificent place to live in as we are blessed to have an energy source right underneath our feet (pun intended)! The Earth’s core is scorching hot and the temperature lies in 6000 C. Therefore it makes it a highly renewable energy sources because heat of that magnitude can be used in multiple ways. The heat energy which is taken out from the hot core of the earth is mostly in the form of a stream or geyser.
This steam is then used to turn our turbines. Further helping us in generating electricity. Above all helping us solve our energy crisis. In addition to being a renewable energy source, it is also the least polluting.

Renewable Energy Resources Conclusion

In conclusion, we must make efforts to utilize these renewable energy sources, as we are faced with the worst global warming and pollution calamity. We must make efforts to reduce our usage of non renewable energy sources like coal, gas and petroleum and reach for the less damaging options. For example, replacing gasoline with biofuel, using solar heaters, etc. There for we shall be contributing to making our world more sustainable and a healthier place to live in.Please leave your comments and views below.
